MIDI Note Editing
Draw, select, move, and quantize notes, and edit velocity across a selection.
The piano roll provides the usual note-editing tools plus fast multi-note editing. Most actions have a keyboard shortcut — see Keyboard Shortcuts.
Editing notes
- Draw, select, and erase notes with the editing tools.
- Select multiple notes and drag them together. Holding the selection lock preserves the intervals of a chord while you move it.
- Duplicate notes by holding Alt (Option) while dragging.
- Select all notes in a clip with Cmd + A.
Velocity
Adjust the velocity (dynamics) of one note or a whole selection at once, so you can shape the feel of a part in a single gesture.
Quantize
Snap the selected notes to the current grid with Q.
Importing MIDI
Standard MIDI files can be imported into a clip, with an option to quantize the imported notes to the grid.
This page will gain step-by-step images. For now, see the piano roll overview.
