Getting Started
The five main views and how to switch between them.
Skene is organised into a handful of views. Each view shows the same project from a different angle, and you can switch between them at any time — playback keeps running.
The main views
- Arranger — launch and sequence clips across scenes for live performance and remixing. See Arranger.
- Tracks (DAW) — the main timeline where you build songs from MIDI and audio clips. This is where most work happens. See DAW View.
- Nodes — the visual patching canvas for building instruments, effects, modulation, and visuals. See Node View.
- Mixer — per-track faders, pan, and the selected track’s processing rack. See Mixer.
- Controllers — on-screen performance surfaces: piano, pads, and chord strips. See Controllers.
Switching views
On a hardware keyboard (Mac, or iPad with a Magic/Bluetooth keyboard) the number keys jump straight to a view:
| Key | View |
|---|---|
| 1 | Arranger |
| 2 | Tracks (DAW) |
| 3 | Nodes |
| 4 | Mixer |
| 5, 6, … | Custom controller views |
Press Space to play or pause, and Return to replay from the start. The full list is on the Keyboard Shortcuts page.
This section is a brief overview for now and will expand with a guided first-project walkthrough.
